Sauder Woodworking Customer Success Story

Sauder Success Story

In 1934, Erie Sauder started a woodworking business in a barn behind his home in Archbold, Ohio. Originally a builder of custom cabinetry and church pews, he began crafting small occasional tables from the fine, leftover wood. Today, Sauder Woodworking Co. is North America’s leading producer of ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture and one of the top five residential furniture manufacturers in the entire United States. An authentic American original, 80 percent of Sauder® furniture is still manufactured in Archbold.

Business Need

In light of COVID, Sauder has had to reprioritize some of its projects to keep up with changes in supply and demand. With more people suddenly working from home, demand spiked for commercial-grade home office products. In response, Sauder introduced three new product lines – Sauder, OfficeWorks by Sauder, and Worksense. Looking even further into the future, Sauder wanted to position the company for an eCommerce-driven environment in which they would be fully capable of omnichannel fulfillment.

IT Challenges

Sauder suffered from a lack of agility with an on-premise deployment of IBM Gentran and was seeking to replace the legacy system with a more automated, business-process-oriented approach.

The Solution

The Cleo Integration Cloud platform gives Sauder Woodworking the control it needs over rapidly changing market dynamics.

Sauder gained a complete SaaS integration solution that equally accommodates EDI, API, and Flat File requirements for over 200,000 transactions/month across 170+ trading partners worldwide. With better integration visibility across end-to-end business processes, Sauder has seen a demonstrable increase in both supply chain agility and responsiveness.
