News Release: VLTrader Managed File Transfer Solution Now Offers Fax

Cleo now offers FAX in its managed file transfer solution, VersaLex Trader

Rockford, IL— Cleo® Communications, a leading provider of data communications products and services since the mid 1980’s, today announced that VersaLex™ Trader (VLTrader™) now offers outbound faxing as a communication method.

VersaLex FAX (VLFax) allows companies to send outbound faxes directly through VLTrader. This provides an alternative communications method to reach partners or locations that either request faxing or cannot accept other methods of electronic data transfer. VLFax can also provide a back-up communications method to reach trading partners when other methods are not available.

Sending a FAX through VLTrader is accomplished using Cleo’s remote FAX service accessed through TCP/IP. A preconfigured Cleo FAX host is provided to the user in which settings are defined. The documents to be faxed are defined with a PUT command within a “Send” Action. The same document can be sent to multiple recipients, or unique documents can be sent to multiple recipients. VLFax accepts the following document types: Adobe PDF (.pdf), Microsoft Excel (.xls or .xlsx), Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), Tagged Image FIle Format (.tif or .tiff), Text (.txt).

VLTrader sends the desired documents to the Cleo Server using the SMTP protocol. A Delivery Status Notification (DSN) is returned to VLTrader in a separate SMTP session, stating whether the documents were delivered (i.e., success) or if the process failed and the reason for the failure. The process can be completely integrated, so that faxes are sent automatically, or according to a defined schedule.
